If you’re new to gaming and/or have only played casually, NM State Esports is a welcoming environment to start building your skills and confidence. With our growing community, you can find your footing by: 

1. Join the Community: With a Discord community of over 2,000 members, we have gamers of all backgrounds eager and willing to share their favorite video games with you! 
2. Join Events: NM State Esports hosts many events in the NMSU Esports Lab including Girls Night, Anime Night, and even larger events like our annual NM State Esports Invitational.  
3. Learn about Pro Esports: Almost every major video game has an esports scene, with prize pools and in-person events that our members watch and attend! If you are interested in learning more about the pro level of your favorite games, the Esports Lab is the place for you. 

For Skilled Gamers: The Next Level 

If you’ve been gaming for a while and have a decent skill level, NM State Esports offers ways to enhance your abilities and potentially compete against other schools for NMSU. Here’s how you can elevate your potential: 

1. Try Out for Teams: NMSU has competitive teams for various games. Check out the Discord or social media pages for announcements about tryouts. Tryouts are open to all students so join up! 
2. Social Interactions: Being active in the community by collaborating with other gamers is a great way to make friends on campus. If you have questions about computers or games, the Esports Lab is open from 12 noon to midnight Monday through Friday, most weeks! 
3. Get Involved in Leadership: NM State Esports is always looking to expand its volunteer staff with new Game Managers, Event Volunteers, and general helpers to make NMSU better than ever.

For Pro Gamers: Making Your Mark 

For those with professional-level skills and experience, NM State Esports can be a platform to continue your competitive journey and make an impact on campus and beyond. Bring your skills to the battlefield by:

1. Engage in Coaching: Share your knowledge by coaching less experienced players on teams. This not only gives back to the community but also sharpens your understanding of the games you love.
2. Represent NMSU: Use your skills to compete in larger academic and semi-professional events. Showcase your abilities on a bigger stage and potentially attract sponsorships or offers. Our best coaches are the ones we find coming back to NMSU to support the next generation of Aggies.
3. Support for Growth in Esports: Collaborate with NMSU’s esports leadership to improve facilities, expand opportunities, and secure partnerships that benefit the community.
